She first visited following a hysterectomy with problems of headaches, poor sleep and constipation. She has had a history of skin allergies. Her diet was reasonable but she sometimes substituted a sweet snack instead of having a meal when she was busy.
Beverley's treatment consisted of:
- a general multivitamin and mineral supplement with additional:
- vitamin B complex,
- calcium,
- zinc and
- magnesium.
- linseeds added to her diet.
- herbs for the glands - licorice and sarsaparilla.
- liver and kidney stimulating herbs:
- dandelion root and leaf,
- bearberry,
- wild yam and
- yellow dock.
- antispasmodic herbs to reduce nervous tension:
- vervain,
- scullcap,
- passaflora and
- mistletoe.
- herbs for headaches that are digestion related:
- balm,
- lavender and
- meadowsweet.
- the elimination of sugar, coffee, tea, and any other caffeine containing foods, smoking and alcohol (especially red wine).
On her return visit Beverly reported that her bowels were regular again, she had far fewer headaches and her sleep had improved. The treatment was continued and on her second visit she reported that she had been headache free and her bowels remained regular. The herbal treatment was tapered off at the six month mark.
